The bullet journal

The bullet journal allows for great flexibility, but the end goal is to help you get stuff done and things recorded. Sometimes I forget to write in things until later, but for the most part it does help me be a little more organized in my life.

This sewing kit

It's a good thing I got this sewing kit when I did. The website of the company that made this kit has it labeled as sold out and it's been sold out for quite a long while. There are good reasons that this specific kit is sold out. One of them is the convenience of having a lot of the supplies in a nifty zip pouch, making it easy to carry on the go. So far, with me learning how to sew stuff, I managed to sew on seven Boy Scout merit badges to a sash, one patch to a vest, and sew up a hole in a pair of pants. My next big goal that involves sewing will be to sew all my Boy Scout patches to a patch blanket. It may be easier to aim for one patch per day, but I'll have to set up the blanket so I have a visual aid of where to sew the patches. A sewing machine would get some of these jobs quicker, but I do get a sense of satisfaction from having sewn things together with a needle, thread, and my own hands.

Ramen!

A bowl full of hot broth and some delicious noodles is especially good in the cold days of winter, but whether it is cheap cup noodles where all you need is water or handmade noodles with made from scratch broth. Ramen is good for filling you up or warming you up.

Fresh Snow

Although I don't enjoy when the snow melts and all that remains is a dirty slushy mess, I do like when snow falls as the world seems to become more silent and one or two snow days is good for mental rest and to do stuff I wouldn't normally have time for such as sewing or playing hours of video games. Though it would be cool to learn how to ski, but there isn't really much opportunity for me to ski. Anyways, snow can be good and a snow day is even better with friends and family.

Panera Bread

Panera Bread has been a part of my life for quite a long time. The first time I ate there was during the early 2000s while living in Colorado, but most of my memories of Panera in those days involved baskets instead of trays, specifying peanut butter without jelly, and eating, what seemed to 7 year old me, giant cinnamon rolls. Fast forward to 2012 when I was hired to work at Panera. Panera was my first job and I'm very thankful that the managers have let me come back to work at summer breaks and now, since I graduated from college. I can't remember every single manager's name, but from Brian who hired me to the current managers today, it's still good working with y'all. Also the pastries were good before, but the new pastries seem promising. I give my approval to the new chocolate croissant.

His Brother Robbie
(Sorry for no picture, I'm not sure that he'd like me to post one)

Sometimes you have annoyed me, sometimes we fought, sometimes we worked together, sometimes we had fun playing with each other. Happy 21st birthday to my brother Robbie! Also, thank you for being a good Super Smash Bros player, it helped me not suck going against other gamers at college, especially the friendly fellows at French Toast Friday.

Origami Paper

In reality, any paper can be origami paper, but what I'm thankful for regarding origami is that to some people, it is inspiring, while to other people that it is cool. Whether I'm folding 1000 cranes or some crazy modular origami project, folding paper in different shapes is fun especially considering the nearly infinite number of possibilities for how one can do origami. Earlier this year, a sudden realization hit me, I've been doing origami quite regularly for the past eight years. It has not felt all that long, but the evidence I've sent to friends or posted on the web says otherwise. I've not much reason to stop, but I will need to find a new goal to keep me going, which should be easy with a calendar from 2010 that I've kept and a wealth of online resources.

Month of Thanksgiving 2018, Day 14

Today Mr. Sean is thankful for

Sugar Bowl Millersville

From the beginning of my college career to the end, there were a few things that were a constant presence: homework, friendly people, Sugar Bowl. When I attended Millersville University, the Sugar Bowl was the place to get pizza, stromboli, and milkshakes late at night or during the day. The Sugar Bowl is a good place to celebrate football wins, enjoy friendship, or to warm yourself up when it is cold outside. I did a few deliveries with organizations such as the Honors College Student Association and MU-AMS (the student chapter of the American Meteorological Society at my school) and it was always interesting to meet the local crowd after midnight, many interesting characters. I miss Sugar Bowl.

His Desk(s)

I've spent much time at desks as a student and at home. Writing for many classes, solving many math problems, and sometimes using its flat surface for other pursuits such as origami and cross-stitching. The desk is where I can say I got things done and some goals accomplished. Though it'd always be nice to have a large enough desk for all the things I'd like to accomplish, but I make do with what I have.

Month of Thanksgiving 2018, Day 12

Today Mr. Sean is thankful for

His Clarinet and Band

Really, I should be thanking my dad for pushing me into trying a musical instrument for an ensemble. It all started in fifth grade with elementary school band, I managed to fit band class in somehow, I remember having to skip recess, but it was worth it and I made it through the entire method book that year. It was okay, but the band was small. Thankfully I'd get a taste of larger ensembles in middle school, high school, and college. I made some friends thanks to band and my clarinet. I also got to travel to many places, entertaining people I didn't know and hopefully inspiring students to play musical instruments.

On a similar note, I still have three more posts relating to the Music and I series, I've set a deadline of posting them by November 30 as I've been delaying them too long.

Today Mr. Sean is thankful for

The Veterans of the Armed Forces of the United States

First off, I do have to apologize for only having an Air Force flag, but I figured it was better to use my own photo than use other peoples' photos without asking them for their permission. Anyways, today, 11 November 2018, is not just any Veterans/Armistice Day, but the 100th anniversary of the end of hostilities of World War I. There are some veterans in my life that I am especially thankful for today. My dad, who served in the Air Force and my step grandfather Zeb Hill (Grand Zeb), who served in the Navy are two veterans that I know from my family. Also to any of my former schoolmates from elementary school through college who are serving or have served, thank you also.

Month of Thanksgiving 2018, Day 10

Believe it or not, today Mr. Sean is thankful for

Maryland

Way back in 2004, when my family moved away from Colorful Colorado, I was so used to living in a beautiful state with breathtaking views of the mountains from my house and going to a school where the year started for most students right after the Fourth of July (Lucky B track, of the four tracks at Mission Viejo Elementary School, got to start school at the end of July instead) that moving to a new state was very hard on me. I'll admit it, nine year old me cried a lot during fourth grade trying to adjust to a new place and for a while, I did not like Maryland at all. Thankfully I got used to living in Maryland and fifth grade me cried a lot less than fourth grade me, though I still looked forward to living elsewhere. I got used to living in Maryland throughout middle school and high school, but no love for the state just yet. Everything changed when I went to Millersville University in Pennsylvania and being out of Maryland but making friends from other parts of Maryland made me realize how much I actually like living in Maryland. It'll be hard to move out of Maryland, though hopefully as an adult I'll be able to handle moving better if I do move out. There are a few people in particular I have to thank for making me realize that I like Maryland. Renee Duff, Elizabeth Siebold, and Noah Stitley are a few of my Millersville friends that helped me realize how much I grew to like Maryland.

Month of Thanksgiving 2018, Day 9

Today Mr. Sean is thankful for

The teachers and professors that taught him

A nearly constant presence in my life for 20 years (if we include all my preschool days), teachers and professors have been there to fill my brain with knowledge. The preschool and elementary school teachers in particular deserve special kudos as they had to be able to teach math, language arts, science, and social studies while other teachers were able to focus all their energy on fewer subjects. Though I'm also thankful for the teachers who did specialize in particular subjects as they were able to build up on the general knowledge planted by earlier teachers. I know I already made a post earlier this year that was appreciative of teachers and professors, but I figured they could use more thanks.

The Weather

For as much as I don't like the rain, I'm thankful for the variety of weather that can be experienced and that mid-latitude weather tends to not be the same day after day in most places (sorry deserts). I'm especially thankful for the canvas that is the sky and how it changes daily and even on a dime sometimes. The variety of cloud shapes will never bore me.

Millersville University Meteorology 2018

It's been about six months since Commencement 2018, but most days since then haven't been as fun as the days I spent with these awesome people. Even though I was an outsider, having been a part of MU Meteorology 2017 until I failed Dynamics 1 the first time, I was welcomed into this group quite readily. I only wish that there were more than 24 hours in a day as Dynamics 1 and 2, Synoptic, and Mesoscale Meteorology classes were so much fun with MU Meteorology 2018. Also, Drs. Clark, DeCaria, Sikora, and Yalda were/are some of the best professors at Millersville if you ask me. Though I'm sorry Dr. Sikora that you saw my strong liking of food with the various desktop backgrounds I had on the computer.

P.S. If anybody knows who exactly took this photo, please let me know, I need to give them credit.

The right to vote

Since I am not in a position of political power, it's challenging to get my voice heard in government. Being able to vote and partaking in voting helps with getting my voice heard. If you haven't gone out and voted today, you still have a couple of hours left. Local elections matter too!

Month of Thanksgiving 2018, Day 5

Today, Mr. Sean is thankful for:

Microwavable Curry Rice

Apologies for the hastily put together post. I promise I'll have a better thing, person, people, or idea that I am thankful for tomorrow. Although I always want my mom's curry, sometimes I have to make do with Thai curry and/or Indian curries. Thanks to microwavable rice packs from Japanese grocery stores and microwavable curry sauce, I was able to enjoy Japanese curry in a few minutes and a long way from home.

Month of Thanksgiving 2018, Day 4

Today Mr. Sean is thankful for:

His mom's cooking

Thanks to my mom, I've enjoyed many a home-cooked meal, especially Japanese favorites such as Curry Rice, Oyakodon, and Yakisoba among others. Though I goofed in choosing this photo as the middle third of the photo is not my mom's cooking at all but Drunken Noodles from a local Thai restaurant. Anyways, I hope I can cook my favorites at least half as well as my mom can.

Month of Thanksgiving 2018, Day 3

Today Mr. Sean is thankful for

Kaitlyn Hernandez

Although she was supposed to be the drum major I feared and respected, once I learned about which instrument she played, we became fast friends. I'm thankful that our friendship has managed to withstand the test of time so far and I hope that time keeps being friendly to friendship. Thank you Kaitlyn for listening to me, being so kind to everybody, and just being awesome!

Today, Mr. Sean is thankful for

Books!

Words bound together, whether they serve to entertain or educate the reader, books are cool and I am thankful for all the knowledge I've gained by reading books. Stay tuned as I'll try to post what I'm thankful for daily for the month of November (or at least until Thanksgiving).

Goals for November

Since I did a post for goals in October, I see not much harm in doing a post for November, but depending on how things go, I may or may not continue posting about my monthly goals after this month. This time I'll focus on five goals as eight goals was too many for October.

1. At least ten blog posts on the Mr. Sean 2001 blog.

I want my blog to not appear as dead as it did earlier in the year and I like writing when I did not have to write in a specific way to satisfy some not so logical whims of a high school English class. I haven't completely decided what will be included in my blog posts for this month, but this one, the goals reflection post, and what and who I am thankful for posts are definite shoo-ins.

2. Achieve at least 80 percent mastery in Khan Academy Algebra 2
3. Achieve at least 80 percent mastery in Khan Academy Precalculus

These two goals are grouped together as they have Khan Academy in common. In October I completed Algebra 1 and the Trig course and now only have Algebra 2, Precalc, and Calc AB and BC to complete my math mission there. Algebra 2 and Precalc represent the last math courses I found easy to do well in as the problems in those classes were still pretty much plug and chug rather than the proof focused math courses in college.

4. Listen to five different podcasts each week

What I mean by this goal is that in any given week that I listen to five different podcasts rather than five episodes of the same podcast. An example would be I try to listen to Podcasts A, B, C, D, and WeatherBrains rather than five episodes of WeatherBrains in a week. This is one of the easier goals as a lot of the podcasts I listen to have short episodes, but the goal here is variety rather than habit. There are podcasts for pretty much any subject that exists in the world, but I'll stick to weather, math, music, video games, Mike Rowe's The Way I Heard It, and the Art of Manliness podcasts for now.

5.  Not listen to Christmas music until the day after Thanksgiving

To end this blog post, I decided to pick a topic that is not supposed to be so divisive yet it is anyway. Some of my friends will insist that Christmas music is okay all year, others say after Halloween, some say 1 December. I've yet to hear a scrooge say that I can only listen to Christmas music on December 25th. I chose the day after Thanksgiving as it suggests I was patient enough to wait until after a major holiday but is forgiving in being a few days before the first day of December. I will need to get me a new pair of earphones if I can't fix the issue with my Bluetooth headphones by then (long story short, my laptop and my headphones ain't playing nice with each other).

Anyways, I've got some work to do, so I'll see y'all in the next post! Also to start the thankful series: I'm thankful for this blog allowing me to put words to e-paper and for all the readers out there who take time out of their lives to read this blog.
